We repeat: simple elements of a sentence (in this case the object and object complement) should not be separated by internal punctuation. Do you hear us, Subaru?

This decision is (apparently) a person who is super into not being cool. Hm.

Romney's writers could use a little lesson in semi-colons. Or maybe we would be allowed to hunt, shoot, and protect our families, homes, and property if he were elected? Seems a little incongruous to me!

The second comma (model, focuses) makes no sense at all. It sets "the French parenting model" off as a parenthetical clause, making the subject of the sentence "In contrast" when, clearly, it is not.

There are three of them missing: parent, so that // habitat, then // identical, there.

I'm starting to think The Society needs an entire page dedicated to the boobs at The NYT. Jon Caramanica (Commamaniac) is crazy for commas. The caption isn't the only problem: Caramanica boobifies throughout his entire article, popping commas in unnecessarily and inappropriately and leaving them out when they are necessary and appropriate.
